This course will focus on the evaluation and management of soft tissue deficiencies and development of surgical skills for connective tissue (CT) grafting including; closed harvest from the palate and tuberosity, incision design, donor site evaluation and graft bed preparation.  The role of soft tissue enhancement for gingival recession defects, prior to implant reconstruction and at 2nd stage implant uncovering will be demonstrated.  Additionally, we will present the use of apical and lateral repositioned flaps, frenoplasty, management of high muscle attachments and vestibuloplasty.  Proficiency in these soft tissue management skills are critical to a long term esthetic and functional outcome in implant reconstruction.

Advanced Soft Tissue Grafting:

This is an advanced soft tissue management course (Pre-requisite - Soft tissue grafting course) with LIVE surgery and HD video demonstrations on the use of free and pedicle CT grafts for reconstruction of hard and soft tissue defects.  Biotype enhancement and elegant esthetic augmentation for highly demanding presentations will be demonstrated with closed "pouch" sub-epithelial CT augmentation.  We will discuss: bi-layered grafting techniques; apical, lateral, and advanced geometric flap designs; and pedicle CT flap designs from palate.  The integration of these advanced skills are a requisite with advanced implant reconstruction.
